Capstone begins
Instead of joining one of the listed capstone projects at Oregon State University, the founding team pitches its own: a UAV radio repeater, approved and funded on the strength of the idea.
Handheld radios lose effectiveness when terrain blocks the signal path, and the gaps that follow delay decisions, split teams, and reduce situational awareness. No crew should lose contact because of the ground they are working in. That is why we build Relay, the mission software behind a deployable radio relay that lands on high ground and holds the link, so separated teams can reach each other again.

Vexil Systems grew out of an Oregon State University mechanical engineering capstone project. The founding team met building a UAV radio repeater for that program and continued the work as Vexil Systems. Aegis was the first aircraft to fly, land, and relay, and Hermes is the second generation now in active development.
